Some fear flying others' needles. Whatever, it does not have to define you.

There is good fear and bad fear.

Good fear keeps you off the train tracks. Bad fear keeps you from asking for a raise. Fight bad fear with all you have otherwise it will keep you locked in.

One thing with fear is that if you start conquering it little by little it does seem not that intimidating anymore. You start believing you can overcome much more than you thought you could. Maybe fear does not really go away it’s just that you get the confidence to do things that you usually were afraid of. Some little bit of fear is a good thing. Paralyzing fear is not a good thing.

Heart rhythm fear

During January 2019 my heart rhythm went out and I was in a-fib again. It came as a shock because I was fit and at that time I was actually training for the Cape Town cycle tour.

I went into the hospital and was cardioverted which means they shocked my heart and it came back into normal sinus rhythm. I was very happy and relieved but then there was the fear, must I start training again? The cardiologist said yes I was apprehensive.

Because I can feel my heart when it goes out I’m sensitive to my heartbeat. I feel it. It is difficult for me to go out, train, cycle…
